However if you're looking for open backs (sound leaks, pretty much at any volume, overall better soundstage and 9 out of 10 times better sound quality) I'd recommend something like Beyerdynamic DT 990's, Sennheiser HD560's. If you're looking for closed backs (less sound leak, worse soundstage) I'd recommend Beyerdynamic DT 770's There are "good" wireless headsets, but in terms of sound quality, soundstage, and usually comfort, you're much better off with a $100-150 dac, $100-200 wired headphones and a $50-100 microphone. Wired mouses were always superior to wireless because of latency, right now that latency is basically non-existent thanks to wireless technology used in mouses like the logitech superlight wireless mouse etc, however headphones or in this case, headsets are much different, there's actual audio going through the cable, and when it comes to audio, cable was, is, and probably will be superior to wireless in the foreseeable future. That said, as someone who owns a 2008 pair of ATHM50s and has had them serviced multiple times, they sound immensely different than the modern versions with a flatter mid and low range closer to an actual set of studio monitor cans. It's always been a digital music consumer level headphone. And it did an amazing job of that for 50 bucks less than it's comparable model.

It was introduced to be the "Sennheiser HD series killer" way back when everyone with an ipod just bought Sennheisers by default. Just some honest thoughts from someone who has use the 250ohm DT770 Pros for probably about a year now!Īthm50 was never supposed to be an audiophile headphone. Nothing game changer but after months of using them there are days I get a bit of a sensory overload from them and it annoys me. My biggest con so far is the cord is not detachable and is a little “heavy” feeling after a few hours of gaming. I’m dying to go wireless with the headset. On another note though I really do wish I could find a wireless headset with the same quality of my DT770s Pro. The sound quality on that game is so bad with all the ambient noise you could almost game without headphones and still manage to play. Some games though just isn’t really gonna matter like Warzone for example. I’m able to hear foot steps A LOT sooner then some of my other buddies I game with that use “gaming headphones”.
